Interior Trades Contractor for the new Honors Residence Hall at University of South Carolina

Cleveland Construction, Inc. was contracted to furnish and install the interior trades package for a new six-story, 356-room, 191,000 square feet of dormitory and study space for students in the University of South Carolina’s Honors College and Magellan Explorers learning communities in Columbia, South Carolina. The new student housing project is four-wing, suite-style residence hall with three wings of living pods with over 500 beds. Each living pod houses a common living space for up to 12 students who live in single- or double-occupancy bedrooms. Amenities on the first floor of the main building include a full-service cafeteria, vending area, equipped kitchen, laundry room, bicycle room and a game room. The Honors Learning Center features three student classrooms and a conference room. 

Cleveland Construction furnished and installed the metal stud framing, gypsum drywall, acoustical ceilings, wood ceilings, light gauge trusses, metal decking, and DEFS throughout the dormitory and classroom spaces. The Honors Residence Hall was University of South Carolina’s first Gold LEED-certified building.
