New Mecklenburg County Virginia Middle/High School Completed
Cleveland Construction, Inc. is proud to announce the successful completion of the new $128M Mecklenburg Middle/High School Complex for Mecklenburg County Public Schools. As the general contractor, Cleveland Construction ensured the facility was delivered on time and under budget.
Located at the intersection of US-58 and Wooden Bridge Road in Baskerville, Virginia, the new 347,000 square-foot, two-story facility sits on a 173-acre site. The school complex includes middle and high school spaces, athletic fields, parking lots, site lighting, and off-site roadwork.
During the preconstruction phase, Cleveland Construction provided value engineering options, 50% of which were incorporated into the final design. This resulted in a 4.5% reduction in overall construction costs. In addition, Cleveland Construction provided Building Information Modeling (BIM) services that allowed the team to coordinate efforts and identify potential design conflicts early, reducing delays and errors during construction.
Cleveland Construction also worked with Mecklenburg County Public Schools to maximize savings through owner-direct purchase (ODP) options, allowing the school district to purchase materials directly from vendors and save hundreds of thousands of dollars on sales tax.
