Construction Manager for the Historic Conversion from Office to Multifamily Residential
Cleveland Construction, Inc. was the construction manager for the historic renovation and adaptive reuse of the 75 Public Square building located in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland Construction managed the conversion of the building from commercial office to multi-family residential use.
Formerly known as the Electric Illuminating Company Building, the historic building is 15-stories and over 131,000 gross square feet. The building conversion included 114 new one- and two-bedroom residential apartments on floors 2-14.
Interior renovations on the first floor included a resident lounge, leasing office, community space, mailroom, building and bicycle storage, and retail spaces. The basement renovations consisted of mechanical, tenant storage, fitness and exercise areas, a pet wash, and a game lounge. A 600 square-foot rooftop patio with a kitchen and restroom was also added to the building.
Cleveland Construction restored the building's historic brick and terra cotta exterior facades while maintaining its existing appearance. All existing windows on floors 2 through 14 were replaced with new aluminum windows matching the historic appearance and configurations.
The historic renovation and adaptive reuse of 75 Public Square in downtown Cleveland, Ohio was completed in December 2021. 75 Public Square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
