Historic Adaptive Reuse Constuction of Cleveland's Schofield Building

Cleveland Construction, Inc. provided preconstruction and construction management services for the historic restoration and adaptive reuse of the 14-story Kimpton Schofield Hotel and Residences in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Formerly named the Schofield Building, this 14-story, late Victorian, masonry and steel framed building has been used for office and retail space during the past century.

The 170,000 SF building was then converted to accommodate a mixed-use program. The first part of this conversion included build-out for a 122-room, Kimpton-branded hotel located on floors 2 through 7. Each hotel room included finishes with Kimpton distinctive design and decor to celebrate Cleveland's heritage. Other hotel amenities include a fitness center, a business center, and 3,800 SF of meeting space on the ground floor.  The ground floor lobby showcases the historic features that have been restored.

The building also includes 52 luxury residential apartment units on floors 8 through 14, a ground floor specialty restaurant, and retail space. In addition, the original ornamental terra cotta façade was restored to preserve the building’s unique quality.
