Norfolk Premium Outlets

Norfolk, Virginia

Cleveland Construction, Inc. was the construction manager for a new Norfolk Premium Outlets for Simon Property Group located in Norfolk, Virginia. 

The project consisted of 7 buildings totaling 332,000 SF of space on a 53-acre site on US Route 13 near the interchange with I-64, and adjacent to Norfolk International Airport and Lake Wright. The outlet center serves Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and the entire Hampton Roads area.

The buildings were constructed of tilt-up concrete wall panels with structural steel, metal stud framing, and sheathing. The exterior façade finishes included anodized aluminum storefronts, thin bricks, synthetic wood siding, decorative glazing, and various soft- and hard-style awnings.  The project also included a center-wide sound system and a total coverage WiFi system. 

Site work included the widening of North Hampton Blvd, the construction of a new access road (Premium Outlets Blvd.) to the outlet center, the installation of a new force main and pump station, sanitary sewer systems, erosion control, earthwork cuts/fills, paving and curbing, lighting, landscaping, striping, signage, traffic signals, and car charging stations. 

The buildings are positioned around open-air storefront galleries that include standard and decorative hardscape finishes throughout, as well as masonry planters and seating elements, fountains, trellis structures, a gas fireplace, and placemaking elements. 

Construction began in June 2016 and was completed in June 2017.
