Design-Build Manufacturing Facility

Cleveland Construction, served as the design-builder for the construction of a new 51,250 SF metal stud manufacturing facility that contains office and production space for Telling Industries, LLC.

The project features a regional sales office, manufacturing assembly lines, shipping and receiving areas, 5-ton and 30-ton overhead cranes, slitter pits, raw material storage, a rail spur, and 6 high bay doors. The scope of work also included new electrical, mechanical, fire suppression, security, data, and telecommunications systems, as well as equipment-startup and training.

As Telling Industries’ third metal stud manufacturing facility (the second performed by Cleveland Construction), the critical design consideration was the efficient and logical progression of raw materials through the manufacturing process. To accomplish this, the Design-Build team acquired the services of an industrial engineer to analyze process requirements and translate them into the design.

Unlike the previous manufacturing facility, Cleveland Construction designed and built for Telling Industries, this facility was integrated with an adjacent rail spur. The 30-ton crane was designed to have the ability to unload rail cars from the inside of the facility by “booming out”. Following this, the 5-ton crane would be able to maneuver the raw material into position for assembly lines once inside the facility.
