Cleveland Construction, Inc. served as general contractor for the conversion of a former K-Mart into a 60,000 square-foot Burlington Coat Factory. The work replaced every major building system and added new loading docks, all on a 5-month construction schedule.

Our work started with selective interior and exterior demolition, then cut through existing masonry to build 2 new loading docks, each with a lift pit and scissor lift. A new demising wall through the middle of the building split the former K-Mart into 2 stores, Burlington and a new Aldi.

Inside, all new building systems were installed, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, and security. We built out the sales floor, checkouts, fitting rooms, offices, restrooms, and vestibule, finished with porcelain tile and architectural woodwork.

Outside, we installed new asphalt, sealcoated and restriped the parking lot, painted the building, and added landscaping with irrigation.

The Burlington work was part of a larger investment in the center. On the other side of the demising wall, Cleveland Construction also completed the Aldi site and shell improvements, preparing the space for Aldi’s interior build-out.
