Cleveland Construction, Inc. served as the general contractor for the construction of a new C-17 Corrosion Control and Fuel Cell Hangar for the North Carolina Air National Guard. The project included the construction of a new 43,500 SF hangar and a 17,500 SF shop/administration area. The hangar was certified LEED Silver New Construction level by the USGBC.
Scope of work included a conventional shallow spread footing foundation system; long-span, custom-fabricated steel trusses with an open-web steel joist supporting steel deck roof construction; reinforced concrete masonry bearing/sheer wall structure at support areas; standing seam and membrane roofing; structural rigid airfield paving; heavy-duty flexible paving; a fire suppression pump house with a high-expansion foam system in the hangar bay; and mezzanine floors comprised of reinforced concrete slab-on-deck with composite steel beams.
Additionally, Cleveland Construction meet all minority participation goals (18.5% MBE and 6.9% FBE) established by the North Carolina Air National Guard for this project.
