In-House VDC Services

Our in-house VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) team provides BIM coordination services for large-scale projects requiring detailed preconstruction planning.

By participating in the modeling process, we develop elements of our scope of work to be integrated into a composite model used by all trades. This model allows contractors to interact with a 3D model rather than working with 2D drawings alone. Our scope of work can be modeled to the Level of Development (LOD) as specified by the project documents.

This process allows project teams to:

• Identify clashes before construction begins
• Improve trade coordination
• Generate accurate shop drawings
• Reduce field conflicts and rework
• Improve installation planning and efficiency

Our VDC team works with the design team, general contractors, and subcontractors through weekly coordination meetings to perform a digital rehearsal of the project before breaking ground. This coordination allows the key stakeholders in BIM to detect clashes, coordinate changes, generate accurate shop drawings, and accelerate installation, ultimately cutting waste and labor.

Traditional layout can take days or even weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the project.

With Dusty Robotics, our team has printed layouts up to 10x faster than manual layout methods. That speed gives our crews a head start and helps keep the overall project schedule moving.

The printed layout also includes more detail than traditional snapped lines, allowing our drywall and metal framing crews to work with clearer information in the field. Dusty notes that its system can print labels, tags, sequencing information, QR codes, wall layout, openings, and other field-ready details directly onto the floor.
