Project Overview

Interior Trades Contractor for the Renovation and Expansion of the Lexington Center

Cleveland Construction, Inc. is performing as the interior and exterior trades contractor under Messer Construction for the renovation and expansion of the Lexington Convention Center and Rupp Arena (collectively referred to as Lexington Center) in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. 

When completed, the expanded Lexington Convention Center will feature 100,000 SF of exhibition space, 29,000 SF of meeting space, a 24,330 SF ballroom, and 44,000 SF of club and flexible spaces. 

Improvements to Rupp Arena include expanding the existing main concourse by 44,000 SF to improve crowd circulation within the arena, installing new chair-back upper-level seating and structural deck overlay to enhance the fan experience and sight-lines along both sidelines in the arena, and adding a new wedge-shaped metal and glass exterior façade around the expanded concourse. 

Cleveland Construction is self-performing the installation of exterior trades which includes; glass fiber reinforced concrete panels, exterior cold-formed metal framing, exterior sheathing, exterior insulated finish system, and weather barriers. Interior trades scope of work includes the installation of metal stud framing and drywall, acoustical panel ceilings, metal panel ceilings, linear wood ceilings, suspended decorative wood grids, stretch fabric wall systems, and sound-absorbing ceiling baffles.

The renovation and expansion project will be completed in phases to allow both the Lexington Convention Center and Rupp Arena to remain operational during construction.
