Project Overview

Interior Trades Contractor for the Savannah Convention Center Expansion

Cleveland Construction, Inc. is the Interior Trades contractor working alongside Clark Construction in expanding the Savannah Convention Center that is scheduled to open in 2023. The 200,000 square-foot exhibit hall space will include a 58-foot hangar door with a 40,000-square-foot ballroom, 32 customizable break-out rooms, a parking garage with an additional 900 spaces, an outdoor space, and a new facility entrance with a sleek all-glass façade. Once completed, the convention center will be the 72nd largest in the United States.

Cleveland Construction’s scope of work consists of cold-formed metal framing, non-structural metal framing, drywall, cement plastering, gypsum veneer plastering, glass-fiber reinforced gypsum fabrications, acoustical ceilings, rough carpentry, metal wall panels, firestopping, thermal insulation and sheathing.

Things to note: The convention center has massive temporary exterior walls that are 40+ feet and 50+ feet tall. These walls receive three layers of drywall on one side, and one layer of dens glass on the other, for a two-hour fire rating. The building must also withstand hurricane winds.
